Odyssey of the Mind 2019

Hoosic Valley Central School participated in the Region 4 Odyssey of the Mind Tournament on 3/9/19.  We had a record number of teams participate this year!  There were 94 teams present from the Questar region, 11 which were from Hoosic Valley.  Seventy-five Hoosic Valley students from grades K through 12 participated in solving long term problems and spontaneous problems.  

We are pleased to report that 5 teams will move onto the NY State Competition in Binghamton, NY on 3/23/19!  The following teams will be moving on:

Grade 12 team - First place for Problem 5
Grade 10-12 Team - First Place for Problem 2
Grade 8-9 Team - Second Place for Problem 1
Grade 8 Team - First Place for Problem 2
Grade 5 Team - First Place for Problem 1

In addition, the Grade 3 team won a third-place trophy for problem 3.

Originally Posted 2/22/2019: On Thursday, 2/21/19, the students from first through 12th grade Hoosic Valley Odyssey of the Mind teams practiced spontaneous problems together. 

Some spontaneous problems build verbal skills, some build mechanical skills, and some build both, but all help the teams with creative problem-solving.
