A message from the Superintendent of Schools - CENSUS
Posted on 03/09/2020
The constitution of the United States mandates that everyone in America be counted every ten years. The first census was done in 1790 and has been done every ten years since.

The United States Census Bureau has asked the Hoosic Valley Central School District (HVCSD) to assist them in making sure that everyone in our community is counted. I want to encourage everyone to participate in the 2020 census. The government uses the census to determine the distribution of federal funds, to determine our representation in the House of Representatives, and many other government initiatives. This is why it is so important to be counted.

There are three ways that one can be counted. You will receive an invitation to participate through the mail, you can participate online, or you can participate by phone. Households that do not respond using the above three vehicles will be visited by a census taker who will collect information in person. The 2020 Census begins April 1st.

Again, I want to encourage everyone to participate in this important endeavor. Let’s show the world that Hoosic Valley Counts!!!!

Sincerely,

G. Michael Apostol
Superintendent of Schools
