IronmanCoach Rogers will be racing in her first Ironman competition at Mont-Tremblant, Quebec on Sunday, August 19th The race is a triathlon of 140.6 miles and includes in this order 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, and 26.2 mile run.  The race starts at 7:00 am and Coach has until midnight to complete the race.

For those of you that don't know Coach Rogers, she is currently one of our PE teachers in the Elementary School.  Coach has also taught in the Jr. Sr. High and is currently coaching Volleyball and Bowling. Coach Roger’s students learned about the Ironman in Computer lab with Mrs. Greg. Students created a book full of good luck wishes and words of encouragement. Coach Rogers plans to bring this book to Canada and reading it again in the days leading up to the race.  We can follow Coach Roger’s along her journey through live footage as it is streamed all day on August 19th through the Ironman Website (http://www.ironman.com/triathlon/events/americas/ironman/mont-tremblant.aspx#/axzz5NxqilrFY) or track her  progress of on the ironman website  as well using Coach’s bib number or name.  The can also download the ironman tracker App on their smart phone – Coach Roger’s bib number is 2295.

Coach Rogers has been training for over a year and is a member of a local team called Empire Endurance.  Coach finished a half-ironman in June at Syracuse.

The slogan of Ironman is “anything is possible" – a great message to share with all her students. We wish Coach all the best in this grueling competition.
