2019 NYS Testing Grades 3-8

2019 NYS Testing Grades 3-8
Posted on 04/03/2019
We have received the OK to resume computer based testing.  We will complete our 7th grade ELA test using CBT on Thursday, since we started with CBT we must finish with CBT.

We had planned to use CBT for 6th  & 8th grade as well.  Given the technical difficulties and since we haven't started testing those grades yet, we have decided to switch back to the paper based test.  It is the same test, just done on paper versus the computer. Sixth grade will take their test on Thursday and Friday as planned. Eighth grade will take their test on Monday and Tuesday as rescheduled.

Additional information from SED

Posted 4/2: New York State has experienced technical difficulties with their Computer Based Testing (CBT) .  We were able to complete our sessions for today but NYS has canceled all computer based testing for tomorrow, 4/3.  Seventh grade will finish their testing on Thursday, 4/4. The eighth grade testing has been moved to Monday, 4/8, and Tuesday, 4/9.

Grades 3-5 will test as scheduled tomorrow, they are not using computer based testing and are not affected by the technical difficulties.  At this time, we plan that 6th grade will begin CBT on Thursday as originally scheduled.

Posted 3/25: It's almost time to begin the New York State Testing for grades 3-8. This year's test is very similar to last year's with the reduced number of testing days, untimed and fewer test questions overall.  These changes are intended to better enable our students to demonstrate what they have learned this year.   The participation of all students is important to provide our schools with information that helps our teachers to make continual improvements to our curriculum and program.
